I have a fairly new Dell Inspiro15 laptop, 1.5 yrs. new, and the past couple of days it is painfully slow. Like typing and waiting for each letter. And not because I type really fast. Any suggestions ? It took me almost 10 mins. to type these three lines. Thank you.

Run Ccleaner
Link to download
Link to a post I made showing how to use it

Run Malwarebytes
Link to download

Both programs are very good and filehippo is safe. I've been downloading from them for years. Only click on the green "Download latest" button nothing else.

Yea, what Tek said. Your keyboard isn't it is a symptom that something is wrong.

In the unlikely event that the above didn't work, there can be problems with display drivers and spell-check.

Could also be a lot of programs running in the background. The keyboard and mouse do not get priority over other programs in memory, so if the system is slow over all, that is likely to slow down input. As Tek_Freek stated it is probably virus, malware, trojan, etc but could also be something you're legitimately running. I've noticed similar situations running OneDrive, Backup and Sync or some other cloud app in the background. Particularly on systems with 4 GB or less of RAM.

Thank you all for the help. All of the above were done by my computer guy, and yet it didn't clear up right away. After approx. 2 days, voila ! it seemed to clear up on its own.

Are you running wireless? If you are and it starts again change your router password. You might have someone piggybacking your system. We did. Wife noticed a couple of odd connections one day. Changed the password and it's not repeated.
