When you have a wifi printer/scanner and a router - where do you enter the wifi password? Is it in the app for the printer or on the printer itself?

Here's an example of a manual - not sure where to enter the wifi name and password.

(I don't think the printer has a keyboard to enter a password anyway.)

You use a utility program on a PC connected via USB cable.

See page 189 of the manual.

(Manual does not seem to specify where you get this "IJ Tool". Did a disc come with printer ? If not you may need to download it from Canon.)

OK, I think some other printers have a keyboard on the printer?

Canon's sometimes have a "virtual keyboard" where you enter characters on the info screen by navigating to one letter at a time. It's clunky but you should only have to do it once.

My HP 4652 has a tiny monochrome touch screen keyboard on screen like an old cell phone menu. It comes up when you first turn it on and you can select it in SETUP.

There must be a way to enter the WiFi password, ON the printer.

The IJ Tool seems to be a computer-based setup manager, but ... it won't work unless the computer can talk to the printer! So it's useless for a first-connection setup.

A PC used for setup with the IJ Tool is to be connected directly to the printer with a USB cable. After printer is connected to WiFi, then cable is removed.

This model printer has NO control panel, only a few buttons.
