Did you go through the fix again for FF bookmarks? Run MWB then try again. It's a long shot, but long shots sometimes work.
And what is the status of your anti-virus? Are you running one? Is the Windows Defender running? Are all the items checked as active in WD?

I realize that PUPs arent necessarily malware. I got frustrated with Malwarebytes a couple of years ago because I think it detects Advanced System Care as a PUP solely because ASC supposedly stole some intellectual property from Malwarebytes.

But last night I did a lot of reading about ASC and decided not to use it until I can think about whether or not to download it again. If I decide to use it again, my ASC License Code is good for another six months.

I havent yet gone through the fix for Firefox. To be honest, I'm somewhat frustrated with the Firefox issue -- although, had I not mentioned it in my initial post here, I'd never have known to do a scan for corrupted files.

And I dont have anti-virus protection yet. I still have Webroot, but I guess that's only good for Chrome when I use it as a backup to Opera. And now I have Malwarebytes again. I'm not running Windows Defender but that's a good idea, at least until I can find a better AV. Thanks again! You're the best!

During my time as a computer guy my motto was, "Persistence Pays". It takes a lot for me to throw in the towel.

And your persistence has, most likely, resulted in your learning a lot.

That's happened to me, although sometimes, by the time I finally figure out what worked to fix a problem, I've tried so many options that I cant remember which one was the charm. But, then, as I said, I'm very stupid about computers.
