On my Mail app there's no trash can visible at all. I found pages saying to go to Settings > Mail > Swipe Options. However, I tried different things and it didn't cause the trash can to appear.

I was hoping when you open an email, a trash can will appear at the top. Do you know what to do?

Right now I have to swipe on the email in the inbox and then do Archive. That puts it into All Mail. Then I go there and trash it.

There is a "trash can" in the mail app. I see a second list of accounts below the first list. If you click on the account you want, you should then see a directory type with folders, one of which is the trash.

I know there's a trash can in the list along the left side.
I meant near the top when you're reading one email.

I find the Mail app in the iPad over-complicated, probably because I seldom use my work iPad to check my mail. Anyway, the reason why you may not see the trash can at the top right of the screen is because you are probably on the edit screen, or another screen where none of the icons (trash, mail, etc.) aren't needed.

You should be on the Mailboxes screen. The "Mailboxes" heading should be at the left top corner of the screen in "bold letter," and a little right of the Mailboxes heading a blue color "Edit" option.

Maybe this would help?

Also, if the iOS is not up to date the trash can may not show sometimes. You may want to update iOS first.

Settings > mail > touch the mail account on the right > touch “account” > advanced on the bottom > “moved discarded mail to deleted mailbox”

This is all ridiculous. There should always be a trash can icon with each email. That would send the email directly to the recycle area or whatever it's called in Apple. They shouldn't have "archive to all mail" and all that crap.

Do you hear me, Tim Cook?
