Are you trying to open the nrg file from File Explorer? I don't think that would work. You have to use Nero Burning Rom to burn an nrg file to disk.

What version of Nero do you have?

Imgburn was a great free program that I used to use regularly. But I stopped recommending it after the developer started bundling adware with the installer.

Two main ways to do it.
1. You "mount" the ISO. What this does is create a virtual drive with the contents of the CD for you. You simply browse to that drive and treat it like any other CD/DVD. Play, copy etc. Once you are done you simply "unmount" the ISO, much like ejecting the CD/DVD

This requires a small piece of free software such as URL="https://www.elby.ch/en/products/vcd.html"]Virtual CloneDrive[/url].

2. You can extract the contents of the ISO with Imgburn software. There is no need to do this if you use the above method.
Too funny. "Easy" if you follow a multi-step process involving new software!

BTW, there's other software to rip DVD that's easy to use.

Multi step? You right click on an ISO, you choose 'Mount', that's it.

When you are done with the ISO (CD), you right click, you select 'unmount' and even this step is not necessary.

That's it and what's the problem with new software? If you want to do something "new" you have to install new software. You would have to install and become familiar with "other software to rip DVD", would you not?

+1; also funneh: now that its confirmed that op is using windows my reply in post #4 would entail downloading an iso of a gnu/linux distribution then running the commands (of course most newer pc's boot from usb so burning to cd-rom is not needed; but still...).
