I'm looking to change the format of a lot of music files from the Windows Media Player Lossless format to the MP3 format. Now I know how to do this with a single file(or song) where you export the file to another audio player and while doing so, change the audio format using the the other player. However, after doing a lot of internet searching, I haven't been able to find a way to export or transfer a lot songs to another audio player while changing the audio format.

Also, the reason why I want to do this is because I created a very long playlist with over 400 songs in it(and in a specific order) that I wanted to give to someone as a gift on a USB stick. However, I did that before in the Lossless format, however, this person's devices couldn't play the files and needed the files to be in the MP3 format. Therefore, can anyone help me with this?

Just Google "audio file batch converter" and you will find many free programs.

do
avconv -i "$song" "${song/.wma/.mp3}"

flac is probably better:

for song in *.wma
do
avconv -i "$song" "${song/.wma/.flac}"
done

I've had a lot of success with Dbpoweramp. It does batch conversion and will convert to any format with the various plugins you can add to it.
