Sometimes if I have been running several programs for a long time, and I close my laptop to put it to sleep, it will take about five minutes for me to log back in when it wakes up. I won't be able to go past the lock screen and enter my password at all during that time. Once I log back in, all of the programs I was previously using are no longer running. It often seems to happen when I have been doing coding in Python using Spyder, so that may cause the issue somehow. Oftentimes it will only be Spyder that closes. I am not sure if my computer runs out of memory and has to close programs or what.
I have Windows 10 on a four-year-old Toshiba Satellite.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions about what might be causing my problem and how to fix it?

Another thing worth mentioning: sometimes it will take up to eight minutes to log in, without all running programs closing.
Also, sometimes the battery will just die without me getting the 10% warning first. But that's probably just because my battery is old.

Just a WAG, but it could be a Windows update that restarts the computer.

I don't think that's it; as I don't see anything about Windows updates when I start it back up. I was at least able to log in faster by replacing my old hard drive with an SSD, but now my volume resets to 50 every time I restart, and whenever I connect my computer to a TV via HDMI, the audio doesn't connect. I don't know how to solve either problem, but my drivers seem up-to-date.

Create another local user profile and then log in as that user and see if you experience any of the issues.
This will help you see if the issue is system-wide or just with your profile.
