Well, 15.04 to 15.10 woked til today. I lost it. So, I tried downgrading but w/ out a cd I can't even go 14.10 or 14.04. So, now what? Haha, how can I fresh install w/ no way to make a cd of anything that is still supported? Hmm. Ok, well will use 15.04 on botht pcs til further notice.

What computer are you installing this one? Specs?

I've had zero issues with Ubuntu 1604 LTS.

I'm on an older HP Pavilion & a newer Lenovo lap. Both had 17.00 on them til last wk. Both loaded 18.00 but then days later, one by one, crashed. I was setup by a friend I can't reach, that gave me a disk back in '15 of 15.04. I had it to use to get, at least, online. These pcs have no more windows in them thus Ubuntu is the ONLY way to use them.

So, I love Linux but am kinda novice to it -- as only used it -- but never needed download, as the updates came via updates the past few yrs. So, again now stuck w/ oldschool versions & need a way to at least go to 16.04 as it still updates. Then could jump back up to 17.00 & then etc.

Ok, TY again for your advice all.

I haven't tried version 17 or greater. 16.04 is being supported for a couple more years, so I figured I'd stick with it. I LOVE Linux Mint, but I've found a few things not working quite right with it, such as Virtualbox. Virtualbox works great in Ubuntu.

Update to 16.04 on the Lenovo lap. Took 4+ hrs yest. But it now gets updates again. Should I try to upgrade again to 17 & then finally 18? If no, I'm ok w/ at least a stable, longterm support version for now.

16.04 is being supported for awhile. I would just stick with it.
