hi, i am trying to find emails that have the string 'no location found' but it is returning emails with 'notification' in the text.

i tried clikking on the search box -> search tools ribbon -> advanced find and also in the advanced tab. i tried with 'single-quotes' and "dubble-quotes". is there a grep like search function in outlook ?

Double quotes as far as I know but it may not work as you want it to from what I am reading. This is direct from microsoft.

Not using the quotes should still give you the results you need , there will just be more of them to go through. You can however sort by dates or sender or whatever to help. The search string should be highlighted and that certainly helps. I'm on 2016 and it seems the issue is fixed. I searched for "Credit Card" (with quotes) and got no results for 'Credit' or 'Card'.

heres an even weirder one. i figured no was too much of a common word so i shortened it to location found in subject field and message body. one of the emails it lists contains neither the word location nor the word found. i find the outlook serch function quite dubious.
