My wife had to do this. Even with her hand an inch over the pad and sensitivity set to lowest it would respond. Cardboard worked great.

Windows 10 turn off touchpad.

Right click the Windows icon at the left of the toolbar. Click Settings/Devices/touchpad/Off

That's also where you set sensitivity.
