App - or whatever it is called - a week ago, the red dot on the Epson printer was blinking, indicating low ink levels. I checked in Apple's Systems Preferences .... ink levels. It showed plenty of ink in all except black and showed black almost gone. I did buy a new black but have not yet installed it. The red dot on the Epson printer, which had been blinking, suddenly stopped and printing was fine.

Today, the red dot started blinking again. Again, I checked the ink levels. Now it shows black half full but colors low. Meanwhile the red dot on the printer, which was once again blinking, has stopped blinking.

Has anyone else had this experience? On what do I rely? A friend says to wait until the actual print comes out bad. It makes sense to me but would appreciate a second opinion by an Apple user.

As reliable as the printer's, nothing to do with Apple.

Change when it starts looking bad. Need to be a little careful with black as they'll just use the blue ink if black is running low.

Thank you. That's what my friend said. Don't worry about the levels page; change when print becomes illegible.

Think of the blinking light or the levels display as a warning to have a refill on hand when it really runs out.

If the cartage is a refill etc you could get the message on the first use. I would forget the app and use until they stop printing.
