My pages have been getting bunches of hits from Hurricane Electric in Freemont, California. I found it online:

Hurricane Electric Internet Services - Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider

The page says:
Quote:
Hurricane Electric IP Transit

Our Global Internet Backbone provides IP Transit with low latency, access to thousands of networks, and dual-stack native IPv6+IPv4.

Global IPv6 & IPv4 Internet Transit
I have no clue what any of this means. Anyone care to enlighten me? Why is this entity spending so much time on my +/- 300 pages? It's creepy.

I have an online business with the following resources:
• Free handouts for teachers
• Essays and bookstores in string pedagogy
• Private Lessons, strings & piano
• An online magazine
• Ads for four books I have published
• Sales of stringed instruments, cases and bows

Bunches of other stuff. But it's a business I started online 20 years ago. And I have a stat counter installed in the source code of each page that logs IP address, geolocation, and other data. And Hurricane Electric has been hitting a lot lately and about 300 times today, nearly every page.

I noticed this article today, maybe that's why?
https://freebeacon.com/national-secu...c-pulse-attack

although, I don't understand why would they post notifications to people's websites? I didn't receive any...

Thank you, but I don't believe that has anything to do with it. These "hits" are just visits to my pages.

I need someone to translate what's in the quoted section of the OP. In other words, what does the following mean:

" . .low latency, access to thousands of networks, and dual-stack native IPv6+IPv4.

Global IPv6 & IPv4 Internet "

Your web page host company may have signed on to the colocation service, so it crawls for updates.

Thank you; I don't think that's it, but I'll open a service ticket just in case.

They provide network services between parts of the world (someone has to provide the cables / routers to connect various networks together, and this is one of the companies that does it).

They also provide a place for servers to be installed and connected to the internet (colocation), and rent servers to companies.

So just like your hosting company, other companies can place servers in their datacenter and rent space out, or place servers in their data centers to run large websites.

There are numerous possibilities for why you are getting hits from their location.

Can you provide more info about the types of hits you're getting, the origin IP, etc?

Here are a few of the IP addresses. They hit nearly every page yesterday:

64.62.252.163
64.62.252.164
66.160.140.183
66.160.140.184
66.160.140.183
64.62.252.163
66.160.140.187
66.160.140.182
64.62.252.173

Could this company be providing some kind of service (I don't know what you call it) for people to visit pages anonymously?
