I converted from desktop to laptop about 5 years ago, and I never ever missed my desktop. I never realized that a good laptop is a pleasure to use, around the house or traveling too, I used to be stuck to my office desk. There is no question that I would never go back to a desktop. (IMHO desktops are probably best for gamers.)

So well I was looking at my hobby room with an eye to de-junking it, and I realized I had a 15" VGA, two 17" SVGAs (not sure of the correct designation, they are all 1080x1920 pixels) and a 19" also 1080. I tossed the 15" and one of the 17" monitors, still have the other 17" monitor (NEC) and the 19" monitor (ViewSonic). They all worked perfectly, nice displays.

So here is my question:

Can you think of any use for the monitors, any reason to keep them? (17" and 19") I can't. For this topic let's not discuss how I dispose of them, IMO too much trouble to actually sell them, so probably give them to Salvation Army or Goodwill.

So can you think of any reason for keeping them? Or should I just pass them along? I'm kind of a hoarder (electronic stuff only) and I guess I'm looking for approval that getting rid of them is the right thing to do.

Thanks in advance!

5:4 aspect monitors make great "wing" monitors for a 16:9 widescreen.

See: AMD Eyefinity.
Of course, this is best implemented on a gamer desktop with a powerful graphics card.

I would keep 1 for testing purposes. 24" would be my minimum for day to day use.

Thanks, and hoping for additional advice. I'm not a gamer, and replacing my laptop soon, may not even have a VGA report. I'm very happy with my 17" notebook..

I will NEVER again own a desktop, and hoping to find a high end tablet to replace my notebook.

I don't test anything, my PC repair days are over. Currently the only possible use I can think is if my laptop screen blows.

The best monitor I have left is a ViewSonic 19" LCD. I guess a half solution is keep the best one, toss the 17".

Hoping for more advice, thanks gang!
