Anyone have a wireless router from Netgear combined with TimeWarner RoadRunner?

In general, connection is very fast when it's working, but at least once every hour or so, the router disconnects the signal and acts as if it's resetting itself (it goes through cycle of full signal, partial signal, no signal several times -- Internet doesn't work at all during this time, despite the full signal indication). Then it goes back to full signal and I have service again. Occasionally (once every few days) it freezes up and I have to reset either the modem or the router or both.

At any rate, it's all incredibly annoying!!!! Is there anything I can do about this? I have a Mac, my wife has a PC. She doesn't notice it as much as I do, but then again, she's online maybe 5-10% of the time I am. We have no other cordless phones or anything in the house that could be interferring. Only our cell phones. But we do live in an apartment complex, so maybe something from the neighbors is interferring?

Try changing the channel on the router. It is normally set from the factory at channel 6, iirc, and if your neighbor is on the same channel, yes this can cause problems.

It also might be the routers firmware, or the DHCP server, among other configuration issues - try changing the channel first though. Just so you know, Netgear routers aren't considered the best lately due to their lack of reliability.

Its a free program that allows you to see all the wireless networks in your area.

Use it to determine which channel will be the best.

It might be that your settings aren't set fully correctly, and verify with your ISP that everything is hunky-dory.
