Which is better for multitasking, a 2.4 GHz i5 or a 1.7 GHz i7?

Jeez, I was multitasking on a 50 MHz 486DX2 (OS2 Warp/DOS 6.22-Workgroups 3.11 dualbooter) back when that was considered acceptably fast and got by just fine.
Wow I didn't know of anyone that would admit to running OS/2, that's hilarious. I did see it running on several bank ATMs in my work history but never individuals running it even though I sure they exist, I can't believe people would admit to running it.

Reason: replaced can with can't
There was some odd CAD package or another that Dad used at work, which ran on Warp which they also used at work, consequently he brought them home from work and set them up on our PC. I didn't use it much myself because I couldn't figure out how to get my (Win16 and DOS) computer games to run in it.
Gee, now that I think of it, all the old versions of OS/2 are on Winworldpc, I should see if I can get it going in Virtualbox.
Apple did get its ass pounded severely by Commodore in the games (i.e. graphics) department so I will give Com credit for that. Yet the fabled C64 port of "Oregon Trail" never even got out of MECC's doors as far as I know.
They had a few Apple IIs kicking around my primary (K-6) school but by that point was mostly "platinum" IIEs. Naturally being a sadomasochist I gravitated towards the old II in the library that nobody else could ever figure out how to use.
For the laptop I am looking at they are both exactly the same price!
The 2.4 Ghz i5 (Turbo boost up to 4.1 Ghz- 8th gen. Quad core) has a
•Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 Graphics card
The 1.7 Ghz i7 (Turbo boost up to 4.5 Ghz - 8th gen Quad core) has a
•Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 Graphics card
All other specs is the exact same (including 16 gb RAM 2133Mhz)
Primary usage: I usually have 20-30 tabs open with heavy usage (primarily websites such as airline search engines)
Secondary usage: photo/video editing as well
Thinking about all the different Intel processors makes me lose the will to live, but doesn't an i7 have hyperthreading and a larger cache? Unless there's a heat or battery life problem, I would think the i7 is the obvious choice.
I'd go for more memory if you are editing 4k video (the apps mostly use it for cache), but I expect that if you were really serious about this stuff it would be on a desktop machine with a serious GPU and a fast disk system. You'd be surprised how much computer a stack of plugins or the more exotic file formats (RED cameras for example) can burn up.
