Is it just me...

I really like Google's Free Tool Bar Spell Check... but, every time I try to use it more than a couple of times the program and what I'm checking lock up...

I can close the program using Control Alt Delete and then the checker will again work...

Today, the program locked up on the first try...

I have it installed on several computers and get the same results.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Hi Ultra. I don't know the program you're talking about -- but as an alternative, or a stopgap, why not just type xxxxx into the Google search bar up on the right of every internet page, and when the Google page opens it will automatically offer you a correction if nec?

Good Morning and thanks for posting...

Google Spell Check is part of a bundle of free applications available when you add the Google toolbar to your browser...

I think it's great when it's working... but it seems to be less reliable now then in the past...

Okay you will probably laugh at this but... geomagnetic storms... solar wind streams... Yesterday I noticed my usually calm TV cable reception was weird -- sometimes jumpy, blurry, static-y. Hardly ever does that. Maybe the Google program problem has to do with satellites, upper atmospheric hankypanky...

Switch to Firefox and dump the Google toolbar. Firefox has a spell checker built in that I use to check everything on the fly. This post, for example...

I'm not picking on Google. I remove any toolbar I see on a clients computer and won't allow them on any of mine. Every one I've ever investigated ends up putting spyware or malware of some form on your PC. I Hate them.

I couldn't agree with you more about switching to FF but I have to disagree about ALL toolbars installing spyware or malware, I have the stumblupon.com toolbar on my PC and haven't had any problems with it. If you are referring to the Google toolbar specifically then I apologize.

I refer to all toolbars I have investigated. This does not include stumblupon, which I've never looked into.

When I'm trouble shooting a problem on a clients PC the first thing I look for are toolbars in their browser. I remove any I find and reboot. The majority of the time the computer runs faster and has less junk than before. I then move on to other avenues of investigation.

The official Google tools do not have any spyware or malware.

Mine is not working anymore either! I'll even deliberately misspell words and it still says everything is fine.
