Nomander,

My bad, guess I was tired. You are correct, I am not sure why I was thinking leds for the case/mb.

Been there, done that. More times than I care to admit.

Meant to get back sooner, but today just sort of took on a life of it's own.

OP: Keep in mind that we don't know for 100% that the problem is the power supply. It just sounds like it would/could be.

Something else that might cause what you're seeing: A burnt out CPU. If the fan that cools the CPU stopped working the CPU could possibly burn up. It doesn't take long as I know from experience.

Smile HELLO EVERYONE! An update....

I have not had a chance to read all of the posts, but I will right now

I held the on and off button from the computer for about 10 to 15 seconds,

and I was finally able to turn it off. Then I waited to see if I could get it on

that way, and nothing......

I was asked if I heard a fan running, I placed my hand in the back of the

computer, and I felt a bit of air, a small fan, but it it is very low...

I waited several hours, and tried to turn it on again, and nothing....

And when I unplugged the mouse and keyboard, everything was connected

to the wall I was trying to make sure it was all in correctly...

When I unplug and plug everything again, I hear like a click, but nothing....

The computer is not making the usual sound it makes when its rebooting

itself....

I hope this additional info. helps you all in giving me advice

Thank you so much, I will now proceed to read everything

Take care,

Countrylv22

Question The air coming from the back....

The air coming from the back is NOT hot...

The machine is not hot, and the fan is NOT making the usual

noise...

Thank you so much!

I appreciate everyone´s help!!

Keyboard and mouse.
And the computer.

The monitor is on you say, but the keyboard light and the computer is not on correct?

You said the mouse and keyboard stopped working while you were using it?
Did the screen freeze up or was it just a loss of mouse and keyboard function?

If the screen froze:

If so, is your room hot? Did or does the case feel warm in any area? Feel around where the air blows out of the back of the case. Is it abnormally hot?

If it was just the mouse and keyboard, it doesn't make a lot a sense and it could be many things.

Usually when a machine stops like that, it often a result of overheating (which may have damaged components) or an actual component went out most likely the power supply would be the culprit.

It could also be something as simple as something grounding out in your case which keeps the power supply from turning on.

These types of problems are really difficult to troubleshoot when your not hands on with them.

I am sorry I couldn't be of more help on the issue.

Here is a good site that has a detailed illustration step by step of the process:

Replacing a Power Supply - Illustrated How to Replace an ATX Power Supply

Oh and here is a nice flowchart before you do to make sure it is the problem.

Nomander, I'm sitting here laughing. I finally had a chance to look for a good site to post a link to and chose the first one you put in your post.

I like the way this person does it. Keeps everything connected while working so you're not going to miss any connections.

countrylv22, I haven't seen where you mention the model of your computer. Some of their small footprint computers take a "special" PS because of size. If you look at the back and give us the Service Tag code we can go to Dell and make sure what you should buy.

It looks like countrylv22 is in good hands, but one thing that I'd like checked before the case is cracked open.

See the little switch just to the upper right of the screwdriver? The PC in question may or may not have that switch. If it does, is that switch on or off?

In my first attempt at replacing power supplies, I had forgotten to check said switch. Made a world of difference for me.
