Exactly. I have been using one for 2 years, and still on the original toner. Perfect printouts, cheap toner. I never print anything in color anyway.

I miss my laser. It was a HP Color Laser and printed amazing. I ended up giving it to my neighbor because it took up more space than I would like.

A good inkjet printer actually costs just as much to run as a laser. It's only the lowend printers that they jack the cost of ink on. Te HP 8500 series is actually cheaper than laser. But it costs $250-500 depending on which model you get.

My Brother HL-2140 Cost me $60, and since I am still using the original toner, it pays for itself over an inkjet.

I have two low-mileage Brother Multi-Functions in my pile of dead equipment (they are free if anyone wants them in NEPA). Ink cartridge handling was too much trouble. No Mas!

It comes down to how much and what you print, really. If you print <500 pages/month, buying a high-priced printer makes little sense. If you print in black & white, then black & white laser printers are dirt cheap. The one thing I hate about the cheaper laser printers is that it only prints on one side of the page. With the amount that I print, that really makes a difference.

If you print in color (and aren't willing to shell out for a color laser printer), inkjet is your only option.

I have a dirt cheap samsung laser that I use to print shipping labels. The toner lasts me forever since I don't ship a whole lot of stuff.
