I definately don't open these emails and delete them right away after sending them to spam, but I have noticed that almost all of them have the word aim in the address/domain. Is there any way to stop these? Some are getting through to my inbox (I don't open them) and some go straight to spam---they are all about winning a foregin lottery or some other kind of bogus prize, inheritence etc. It is getting very annoying--I must get 20-30 if not more of them a day!

Pam

Look for a phrase that's in each email, then create a rule in your email application to delete any mail with that phrase in it.

Default helped alot!

Thanks, already I notice a reduction in spam since I blocked the aim domain, but what do I do if I can't see the email address without opening it? Some of the emails are coming from a very common name (but of course someone I don't know or ever heard of) and the description is always about ATM's or lotteries or inheritences etc. I can mark them as spam without opening them but I can't block them. Any suggestions? Thanks, Pam

Blocking by the senders email address is usually futile, as the often change the from address and they're almost always fake anyway, as I said you need to block common phrases that are in the body of the message, and block keywords like lotteries and inheritences that show up in the email body, just be careful so you don't mark wanted mail as spam.
