I've got a new computer. It has windows vista. Every single time I come to this site, I get an add on request. Whether or not I okay it, it keeps popping back up EVERY time I click to view a different thread, thread page, forum, etc. Basically, any click I make results in another add on request.

HOW can I stop this? I love this site, but if I can't get this fixed, I'm never coming back here!!!

I don't think this site has anything to do with it. You need tech support from the computer maker or better yet call Bill Gates to come to your house and fix it for you. Just kidding but there should be some box to check that says don't show me this message again" Don't give up on this great site just because "windows sucks" !

We might have a chance to figure it out if we know what the add on request says.

Click the start button, and type snip. Open the snipping tool when it shows up at the top of the menu. Use that to take a picture of your screen and post the picture for everyone to see. I bet you've got some kind of spyware or worse, some terrible security software like Norton.

The snip tool doesn't work because when the little box pops up, I must hit continue or cancel in order to do anything at all. When I do that, the box disappears until I refresh the page or go to another page. Thanks for the tool though....that will be really handy in other situations.

The pop-up box says:

user account control

Windows needs your permission to continue.

If you started this action, continue.

Internet Explorer Add-on Installer

Microsoft Windows

^Details Continue Cancel

User Account Control helps stop unauthorized changes to your computer.

______________________________
If I hit continue, the box disappears and then reappears next time I refresh or go to another page. Same thing happens if I hit cancel.

This computer is only four days old. I'm not sure what kind of spyware it could possibly have that could do this. My last laptop...I had for 9 years and only had a virus ONCE (and I only used security software for one of those years). Plus, for the majority of that time, that laptop was being used in South Korea.

Much love to whoever can help me fix this.
