Default Have HD computer monitor, but no HD picture

Hi all. I have a 19 inch HD display computer monitor. I received my HD cable and hooked it up and have my setting switched to digital, but when surfing the internet in general, I am not getting any better picture on my screen than when I was running on analog.

Will I not get a better picture when just over the internet and this feature only be useful if I am watching a movie from my computer (which is blu-ray compatable).

OR have I not done something right, OR is there some sort of special cable needed for the internet in HD, or is that something that does not even exist?

Thanks.

There is no HD internet. You might be able to view some clips in HD but HD is for your cable TV, not your general internet stuff.

I use a 40" HDTV at the moment as my primary monitor.. which can display 16:9 resolutions of 1360 x 768 (720p) or 1920 x 1080 (1080p) but some of these LCD smaller monitors display 16:10 so equivalent resolutions are..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16/10

To watch a HD video per say.. you need your videos to match these types of resolutions.. anything else is basically stretching the image and filling it in with jaggies.. for example dvd's max resolution is like 720 x 520 or something like that.. so obviously on a hdtv it's up converted/stretched..

I honestly watch blue-ray and other movies on my computer/hdtv all the time.. you just have to have a higher source.. your best source out there is blue-ray it even makes local HD broadcasts look like crap (in all HD broadcasts I've seen if you look closely there's compression and artifacts all over not true with a well done blue-ray) there is a term called HTPC.. which means Home Theater Personal Computer.. but these people who do this also put TV cards into their computers and record tv much as you’re DVR/TiVo’s do.. (technically speaking there all computers)

LCD monitors have a "native" resolution. At any other resolution the picture is poorer quality.

What is HD Internet? Is that where the pixels are sharper? I don't get it.

You don't get it because there is no such thing.

What HD cable would that be? HD not only requires the source be HD, but also the reception equipment, not only your monitor, but the PC graphics card, along with the content being sent, websites are not HD.

It sounds like you may have switched from a VGA cable (usually with blue connectors) to a DVI cable (usually with white connectors) when you hooked up your LCD monitor. You won't usually see much difference if that is what happened.

I know, I just can't figure out what you would expect to see as HD aside from videos.

I guess you could say the entire PC experience has been HD ever since 1024x768 resolution became available years ago. Its the TVs that are trying to catch up with the high resolutions available on PCs.
