What the heck is this? (work, router, memory, connection)

I was browsing around on eBay when I came across THIS. It's obviously some sort of card, but I'm just as perplexed as the seller is. It seems to connect using the ISA interface...but what kind of ISA connector could take THAT?
Looks like some sort of daughter card for some proprietary equipment, not necessarily a PC. Doesn't look like a standard ISA connection though, but it's been quite a while since I've worked with something of that era.
Just a WAG, but it could be a printer interface for one of the original IBM-PCs that allowed multiple printers. There were some funky daughterboards. Normally cards have a FCC number that can be traced back. The trace-back on this goes to a Mitsubishi page in unicode, so it could pre-date standardization. I remember buying cards on Canal Street in Manhattan that came with nixie tubes and all sorts of other cool stuff. That was late 1960s, early 1970s. The edge connectors were there, but as to what the stuff did, nobody had a clue.
Looks a bit like memory expansion for the old 808x IBM PC?
