i guess what i really want to know as if 64 bit is the replacement for 32 or will they both be around in years to come. so i can decide now. i'm getting a new computer and want to get what ever one is going to be around in years to come, that's all. this is the computer i am getting.

64 bit is the future, Microsoft will eventually phase out their 32 bit versions, I thought it would happen with Windows 7, but maybe the next one.

By the time you have to worry about a 32 bit OS not being supported, you'll be on this computer's replacement's replacement. Keep in mind that most current software today still runs on Windows 2000 and that's a 9 year old OS now. Until 64 bit is supported as well as 32 bit, I'm sticking with 32 bit Windows. The good news is that 64 bit support is rapidly maturing and the day I'm waiting for should happen during Windows 7's tenure.

I don't think he was mad at you, your main concern was the your printer, in order to alleviate that concern we need to know what printer you have, doesn't really matter what PC you get.
