I booted up once, saw it needed updates, and decided I might as well get'em over with. It told me I'd have to reboot. During the reboot, I accidently hit some keys at the right end of the keyboard. It did boot, but acted too busy to do anything. I could get Ctrl-Alt-Del, but couldn't close anything.
I decided to reboot, again, so I told to close and reboot. Now it is telling me: Please wait... Windows is shutting down...
I'd let it wait and shut itself down. Sometimes, big problems are created by forcing one to turn off when updates are being installed. I've seen many minutes pass waiting for updates to install before the machine turns itself off.
If it won't shut down after 15 minutes or so I'd kill it then restart. If it won't restart use the F8 option to get the boot menu, select last known good config, and hope for the best.
Thanks ya'll. I'll go ahead and give it more time just in case it needs it. I thought about seeing what would happen with F8 in safe mode, and maybe taking it back to a previous point. I don't like it but stuff happens.
Yeah, I did. I started to hit the F8 button but decided not to, to see what would happen. You never can tell about this odd stuff. Then I had another problem: No connection. So I tried a few things before breaking down and unplugging the modem. It worked and I'm back in the saddle, again.
