Many of us use our computers for a living. If anyone "pranked" my computers, they would have broken fingers before the day was out. I'd probably get a chuckle out of doing it.

At one point, I put Easter Eggs in my programs for those who cared to look for them. Pranks are little more than the released hidden aggressions of kids. After dealing with the idiosyncrasies of networks and hardware for a few months, the humor in pranks is lost. Also, word to the wise - a surprising number of engineers have NO sense of humor. Tell a joke to one of those and he or she will just look at you. Prank 'em, and they take it as a challenge. You don't want to get into a p---ing match with an engineer, unless you don't mind your phone suddenly being on a local Russian exchange, and your television showing "Red Dwarf" on all channels.

About the only thing I've done was on a network, before I ever got on the Internet. This was on a chat board, where I discovered I could sign in as somebody else by substituting a zero for an "o" or a one for an "l".
