I think they must have a problem w/their site earlier (I'm not sure where they are located) - but it's fine now.

If you can't launch the program, you may need to reinstall it.

I've been having trouble using the integrated updater the past couple of days. I've had to manually download the .bin file and tell AVG to update from the directory.

I did tracert and my multiple hops ended at guru.avg.cz ... that's Poland?

I wonder if anything that works off satellites had issues yesterday because of the debris cloud from the two satellites that collided.

They're in the Czech Republic. Satellites aren't used for Internet backbones because the latency is horrible. I've had the displeasure of using satellite Internet and it was pretty bad. There's no way it would work for a backbone connection across an ocean.

I don't know if it affected it or not, but there were horrible winds in a large part of the country also. AVG is working fine for me now though, have you gotten it up?

Mine has been telling me that I need to restart for about four days now. I got fed up with it and installed 'Avast'. My problem now is AVG wont let me remove it from my computer.

So you have two AV's running at once? BAD IDEA. Go to services.msc and disable AVG's services, reboot, and uninstall. I've had to do that a couple of times.

I tried disabling everything to do with AVG, and then when I try to uninstall it, it say's "uninstall failed" and tells me to contact AVG for help. It then opens a new window with this message...

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgemc.exe: creating backup....
Error 0x80070002 %DESTINATION% = "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe.install_backup_1", %SOURCE% = "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgemc.exe"

Ugh!!

(BTW, I have Vista, don't know if that makes it more difficult)
