My puppy chewed through my cord (two days after my hard drive crashed. I'm not having a good computer week). Does anyone know where to purchase legit Macbook power adaptors other than the apple store ($79 for a plug. yikes). I saw them listed on amazon but all the consumer reviews are super scary.

Thanks in advance!

Those adapters are expensive. I had a heavily-used iBook that was going through them at the rate of one every 9 months for a while. (The thin cable doesn't like to be bent or flexed as frequently as the users at my house did that.) The third-party adapters wore out just as fast as the Apple-branded ones did.

I have the 85w magsafe power adapter and i don't want to pay 79 for it, i noticed that the white box separates from the plug, the plug part is fine, i just need a replacement for the box, i don't need both parts of the charger, anyone know if these are sold separately?

The plug that goes from the box to the computer can not be replaced. The plug that goes from the wall to the box can be replaced.
