I just bought a new PC "Dell Inspiron 530" w/Vista. Every since I've had it (1 wk) it's been slower than Dial Up. Every page I get "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage" I can open the pages and get on the internet, but only after clicking "refresh" 50 times. I've tried everything accept cleaning the regestry and sending it back. Is this the browser or OS?
Any suggestions or advice, would be much appreciated.

MK

First, download and use Firefox.

If that doesn't help, other places to look would be your firewall or your router security settings.

Yes, because that's normal and common for IE and Windows.

Barring a hardware problem like a bad NIC or Ethernet cable, I'll bet its the lovely security software Dell pre-loaded for you.

Anything I try to downlaod gets cut off halfway through saying (in so many words) "this %$&^%$#### could not be downloaded, **&^$#$ server was reset"

What do I need to do in order to complete a download?

Then I WILL download "FIREfOX"

Download it on a friend's computer and move it to your PC on a flash drive.

Or
Or try booting into safe mode with networking. But if that works it would indicate that a firewall, antivirus, etc. is your problem to begin with.

well, get this.........
Last night I watched a 2 1/2 hour DVD (The GodFather) on the new PC.
Today I get on line and for the first time ever, it's working like a new PC is expect. It's fast loading and not slow at all. I haven't tried downloading with it like this yet.
I'm not going to assume that the problem is gone, I'll get back to you on the downloads.

Maybe Don Corleone made your computer an offer it couldn't refuse.
