Hi all! I was wondering how to clean a Vista. I know for XP I had my spyware and avg virus all free, plus I had a registry cleaner, Easy Cleaner. I have found Avast for Vista for the virus' but I need a spyware and a registry cleaner too. Any suggestions or should I buy a registry cleaner?
Thanks for your help.

CCleaner has a registry cleaner. I mostly use it to get rid of unnecessary files.

Hey, thanks Brian. So just check the unnecessary files and I should be safe? I think that's all I used the other one for.

What about a spyware?

CCleaner has a lot to it. Can you tell me if there is anything I should uncheck before running?

I use "Spybot - Search & Destroy". It works with Vista and it's free.

I used that for XP, but thought it wouldn't work with Vista. That's great then, thanks!

I have it installed in two computers that use Windows Vista. It works great. About once a week, I let it scan the computers and fix any problems that may show up. I also check for new updates each week as well.

I also use AVG Free 8.0 virus checker.

You use AVG for Vista? I dont know how I got off course. I thought AVG and Spybot werent for vista.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I would rather use AVG since that is what I knew. I'm not so sure about this Avast. 1/2 the time I dont know what it's doing.
You know anything about that registry cleaner?

Yes. I just checked the version. It's 1.6.0.30.

As for the registry cleaner of AVG or Spybot, they will usually remove what can safely be removed, unless you use more advanced settings. Spybot recommends DO NOT use the advanced modes unless you know what you're doing.
