I have a Dell Inspiron 530 (1 1/2 months old) I keep constantly getting messages saying that "I have been disconnected from yahoo messager because I signed in on a different PC",

I'm assuming that this is happening because all of my email and messager information was copied from my old PC.
How do I change the IP address? or what do I do to get yahoo to recogize the new PC?

Is the old PC still connected to the Internet? It sounds like you're trying to do just what it says: logon on to Yahoo messenger from two PCs. The IP address has nothing to do with it. You need to remove Yahoo messenger from the old computer or disable it.

No the old pc(Dell Dimension 4600) is no longer connected to the internet. It was donated to a business. I think when I got this one, and before I disconnected the old one it (email and Messenger)was transfered with no changes made. It worked so I left it that way.

Escape is right. Yahoo is telling you that you account is logged in from two different computers at the same time. Did you uninstall the application before you got rid of the old computer? What you have said indicates that you "transferred" email and messenger, but that doesn't necessarily mean you removed them from the old one.

.

You removed all of your personal information, accounts, logins, passwords, etc. Right?

People, please sanitize your old computers or hard drive before you give or sell them to anyone else. It is amazing how many threads I see here where people donate or sell old computers with minimal to no removal of personal information.

How do you connect to the Internet? What ISP? Are you connected directly to the modem or do you hav a router? I just had a thought that maybe your ISP's DHCP lease time is very short and your computer or router keeps getting new IP addresses very frequently. I know that DHCP is supposed to keep extending the lease on your existing IP as long as your client responds correctly but there might be a glitch or incompatibility somewhere that's causing you to get a new address over and over.

Sounds like you left your login credentials on the old machine.
