HSN has a 10.1" laptop for $479.90. They claim 70% of laptops people own are Acer. It has a builtin wireless, so does that mean I can go down to my Dad's house, who has no internet connection and piggyback off a neighbors?

My sister has an Acer. She has sent it off twice to have it fixed in less than a year. When she was at the post office sending her laptop off, another guy was sending his off for the 3rd time in less than a year.
This is just my opnion but, I would go with another laptop.

I had one years ago. Their customer service was PITIFUL, the laptop had several repairs made to it over it's lifetime, it was the absolute worst computer I've had in my lifetime. I've had Dell's, Compaq's. HP's, IBM's, Quantex's, Mac's, and even an old Tandy TRS-80, and all of them combined didn't give me the problems of that one Acer.

A bogus claim to be sure, no way they have 70% of the market, not even 30%, I wouldn't go near one.

I just bought an Acer desktop for <$400 online......

In answer to your wireless connection, you can only steal a wireless connection if your neighbors connection ISN'T password protected

Usually you can find 4 or 5 in any neighborhood and chances are 1 or 2 are not pw protected..

If there is an unsecured wireless network nearby you might be able to access it. There are also many commercial spots that offer free wireless "Hot Spots" in the hopes that will bring in more customers.

I would consider getting a computer with a larger screen though. It is very difficult to see smaller print on those mini-laptops. I would not consider anything less than 15 inches myself.

I have an Acer and have been very happy with it.

I absolutely agree with you. I think that Mac and Dell are probably the two that have the lions share of the market between them.
