I have a blue screen on one of the kids computers. It has Windows 2000.

Boot from your Windows 2000 CD, hit R for recovery console when prompted. Run chkdsk /r. If that doesn't fix it, you may need to run a repair installation. That's assuming the hard drive isn't crapping out.

Not legally. A Window XP or Vista CD will work too for running chkdsk. Can you borrow one from a friend?

You can also repair a Windows 2000 installation with a Windows XP CD.
