The font resolution is not what it should be. Some letters look ok while others have a gray/bluish tinge. We are running vista on a Dell Dimension E521. This happened suddenly. This happens on email, IE7, word, bookmarks etc. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thx for the help, he ran the program and it's pretty much still the same, maybe the print is a bit darker but the blue is still there. Someone else sugg'd rolling back the date which he did but it's still the same. The monitor went black before this happened and it was sugg'd that maybe the video card is on the blink. It's still usable as is but hard on the eyes. Thx again.
Assuming a desktop since I've not kept up with Dell models.
Unplug the connections at each end of the video cable (if the monitor end doesn't then skip that end!) and check for bent pins or corrosion. Sometimes just removing and replacing can fix a poor connection.
Depending on your comfort level do the same with the graphics card if it is not built into the motherboard.
A quick way to tell is by looking at where the monitor plugs in. If it's in the same area as the USB cables and the network cable then it's on the motherboard. If it's in the area where the slots are (you'll see metal plates that can be removed there) then it is not and can be pulled out of the slot and pushed back in. This is a simple way to "freshen" the connection. By sliding in out and back in you cause friction which will clean the ares where it plugs in. Corrosion, however slight, can cause problems.
To all who provided help and suggestions, thank you. Bottom line is that somehow we changed the resolution on our monitor. The fix was to go to control panel/Personalization/Display settings and change it to the natural resolution of the monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 920W). There are 2 resolutions that worked, 1440 x 900 and 1280 x 720. The resolution it had been set at was 1280 x 768.
