The latest version of Itunes severely slowed down my Vista installation and I was amazed by how snappy my system ran after I removed Itunes completely. Does anybody know of any less-bloated software for using an iPhone? I always hated Itunes even in XP but in Vista every bit of bloated software really makes a difference.

Will they let you use an older version of itunes? I have v7 on Vista 32 and it doesn't slow the system down unless it's running and starting to download podcasts. Apple really does write crappy Windows software

Itunes didn't slow down my Vista 64 system either. Maybe you got a virus or trojan instead slowing you down.

You should check out Winamp or Fubar2000. The ability to play non crappy mp3 formats like FLAC is worth so much more. Plus the Winamp remote feature is just really really fun to have access to.

I can confirm, iTunes on Vista doesn't run particularly well. As for "alternatives," it depends on what you want to do. There are plenty of programs out there to organize and play your mp3s. But for syncing the iphone the only program I know of is iTunes, unless you jailbreak the phone. There are some programs that work with the iPhone, but I don't know how much you can do with them. I have used winamp to back up the music from my iPhone onto another computer, but I don't know whether you can add songs to the phone with a different program. Since I'm stuck using iTunes for syncs, which I do almost every day anyway, I don't have much reason to shop around.
