Had a delay in installing RC 7 due to the DVD drive in the laptop I was going to install it on had gone south since the last time I used it.

New DVD drive came in the mail today, and now I've got Windows 7 installed on it. This is an old Dell 600m with a 1.6 Pentium M, 2 GB of ram and a 120G HD. I'm impressed so far. It runs as well as XP ran on it, and startup/shutdown is certainly quicker.

I won't go back to XP.

Win7 machine for recording music. And perhaps dual boot Ubuntu and Win7 for home.

I don't currently have the RC. I'm using the beta and although there were some problems with it, (I was getting blue screens from installing Visual C++ express), I'm still buying it when it comes out.

Cubase SX, and it works fine under the beta. But I record mainly under XP.

I want to upgrade to Cubase 5 when the real Win7 is released. There are some really cool features with the new Cubase, plus I will be able to use the iPhone as a "transport bar."

I also wanted to use (open source recording program) Ardour through Ubuntu, but MOTU doesn't support the drivers for linux.

Anyway, the reason I use Cubase is because it was the first "professional" one I was exposed to. Cubase VST. It's mainly familiarity and it does what I want to do.

I run it, and it is definitely not a resource hog like Vista.

My system with 4GB RAM and an Intel Core2 Quad Q9650 runs amazingly fast.
