Have experimented with most of the free downloads and several paid realtime programs. Now down to these: Earthlink handles the pop-ups, Norton the firewall & antivirus, and I clean out the tracking cookies with Adaware.

I also have McAfee and like it, also Spybot. I have a question re the two programs. McAfee "updated itself" with a new software and now log on takes forever. Is this because the old software is still there and they are fighting each other? I shut down my firewall that is from Microsoft, so that is not the problem.

Bones, I'm not Rance but no I have not tried AVG.
OOOOOOPS. LOL

AVG has a freeware and a paid version. I use the freeware and it gets updated daily.

I used to use Norton, but tried the AVG free version when my Norton was about to expire so I could see what everyone was talking about. AVG found things that Norton didn't. I uninstalled Norton and got the paid version of AVG. I love it. Nothing gets by it.

Not that you will notice. Norton is the resource hog.

Not at all. It actually got way better after I got rid of Norton and all the Symantec garbage that was on there and installed the AVG.
