What should I do with old computers, monitors, even printers and what not. Most of them work, they are just old. I even have a few old portable DVD players that do not work anymore.
Working you can try donating it to a church, school, etc. Maje sure you clean up your personal files though and scrub the drive first. Not working most areas have free drop off days that you can turn your stuff in for recycling. My city sponsors one or you can talk to your local Staples, Best Buy, etc to see if they have them and when the next one is.
You can try to sell them on Craigslist. Be realistic however, you aren't going to get much for them. Scrub your drives carefully as was instructed.
Be careful if you want to throw them out - things like monitors are considered haz or toxic waste.

give them away to people who can't afford them...I gave my computer away after cleaning it up, when I left the US... there are always people who would be grateful to have something that would only end up taking up space in your house, or places like Salvation Army and the likes will refurbish and donate them or sell them...
I tried giving a desktop with large monitor (not flat screen) and an older 10 lb. IBM ThinkPad to churches and schools when I was in CA. I got rejected. Seems a lot of places only want current stuff. Even third-world want new techology (I looked into that too). I did find salvagers who would give me a little for them. I guess they break things down and use them for parts, etc. or possibly ship out of the U.S. Instead, I scrubbed them and off they went to the hazardous waste disposal site.
Has anyone gone through the Toshiba trade in program? According to the estimate, they would give me about $80 for my laptop. Heck if I only got 30-50, I would be happy!
Got me thinking, if local computer stores/individuals might want to buy computers for parts.
