Someone has pirated my son's myspace, too, and putting all kinds of trash on it. They have changed his password and he can't get in, although is pix is there with his screen name. I notified myspace and asked what could be done, but have not heard from them. I opened on for myself when my son got his to monitor it (I told him that was the deal), but I have been removed from his friends list. I have seen the "online now" message when he was sleeping.

Thanks for this post- help someone!

Did your daughter try to download one of those so-called "Profilewatchers" or anything that says you can track who is looking at your profile? Just wondering cause those things are bogus and hackers can get your info. Have your daughter reset her password anyway to be sure. Do you have a Pest Patrol software installed to protect your computer? Also, if you have internet explorer, you can go to Tools, scroll down to internet options, click on Delete under Browsing History, then click on Delete All, and then check the box for Delete even all add ons and Click yes or Delete yes. That will get rid of any tracking cookies, temporary internet files that can corrupt your programs and redirect the information you send to someone else to view, and all that stuff. Also, if it is none of these things, I would surely bet that another one of your daughter's friends, or so I should say "so-called" friends if this is the case, is letting this girl log onto their account to view your daughters page. Or the person has created a bogus myspace account and named themselves a band or something and your daughter accepted them as a friend not realizing it could be this girl instead. Hope this helps! Let me know.

Oh yeah, quickly, just so you know, there is no way in through a "backdoor". The only way this person can view her actual comments or emails is if someone else who is on her friends list is letting this person view her page and letting them read the emails your daughter sends to them. That person being a major backstabber to your daughter and she doesn't realize it. That personally, is what my opinion is as to what's going on here. As for hereinfla's ordeal, I think your son's account was hi-jacked by these people who trick ya into downloading some bogus program that promises you'll be able to see who all views your profile and keep track of "who's looking at you" but instead once you download it, it asks for your account password so they can add ur friends to the list, but really all they want is your password, by the time you find out it was bogus they've allready taken over your myspace account and changed the password so you can't retreive it! And myspace never does anything about it! They suck, basically! The most common of these so-called programs is called "Profilewatcher" and you'll usually know if they've done it if you see a big yellow sun with a smiley face on it in their comment box or their friends comment boxes and it says Have a Sunny Day. Anyway, hope this helps you two.

I'm no longer a member of that site because I think it's a joke.

However for quite awhile myspace has been pretty good with catching things.

There really is no way to get into someones account unless they uploaded a keylogger to a site, to their site, to an external site, etc.. And when visited it downloads and installs itself then begin monitoring and sending information back to a server.

Make sure you check your computer for all traces of spyware, malware, viruses and keyloggers.

The next thing you can do is ALWAYS check the URL in the top bar, to make sure you are logging into myspace not something else.

And finally if all else fails, make a new profile, notify myspace and tell them someone is pretending to be you, and they will have this test that you take a picture of yourself with a sign that says something like "This is me, myspace test" or some garbage like that. And SUPPOSEDLY they are suppose to delete the other account.

As for their customer service. It's garbage. I got a response from them AFTER I deleted my account.

Until he's 18 and owns his OWN computer..my son won't have a My Space or any space. Supervised internet access only. Period. Don't care if I'm uncool about it. I'm not suppose to be cool. I'm his parent.

A co-worker at work got a message from someone and it asked to "click here" to be added to a friends list or something. Anyhow she clicked on it...and the computer was slammed with porn. I mean it actually locked it up. Took 4 days to get the computer straightened out. And I hear many other horror stories about myspace.

I have a myspace page. I keep mine pretty locked up. You can't view it unless you're on my friends list. Pretty much all of my friends are people that I know or well known bands.

Alot of people post events. A friend of mine clicked on an event link, and like Rance said, she got slammed with porn and a bunch of other garbage. She had to wind up taking her puter to the geek squad to get everything wiped out. I have event invitations blocked.

I think another place that spyware and keyloggers can come from is through those myspace pimping layout sites. All you do is copy code and use someone else's design for a layout. That and some of the graphics sites. I either make my own or use trusted graphics sites.

I have a myspace & keep my locked as well. I never click on those profile tracker page things. Just keep your spyware/anti-virus programs up to date. And, if all else fails....set up a new profile on myspace
