Default Quickbooks Pro

Where is the best place for lowest cost software?

Has anyone purchased used software and, if so, where did you find it and what do you look for to know that it is authentic and in working order?

1. Craiglist.

2. It depends entirely on the software and what protections are in place. Rather than buy "used" software that may have an authentication key that is used or compromised, I prefer to buy "old" software at a great discount. So, for example, Nero is on version 9 and costs some $80 or something. I bought version 8, new for about $25. I don't get all the version 9 features, but I get the features I actually intended to use. I imagine you could easily do something similar for quickbooks, assuming there is not a "latest version" feature you absolutely can't live without.

That's an excellent idea. I don't need the newest version and if and when I do, I can always upgrade.

Default Good site to read software reviews?

One more question. I have been reading reviews on Amazon for QBPro 2009 and 2010. Some even state that 2008 is preferable to 2009.

Does anyone know a better site to get the pros and cons for each?

Just need it for basic service biz management and reporting. No payroll and minimal AR/AP entries per month.

Bank upload/download will not be a biggie for the time being, although I will probably want to upgrade to that down the road.

Have you looked at Microsoft Small Business Accounting Software?

Personally, I hate dealing with intuit products.

The bookkeeper that I will be using works with QuickBooks and I have Intuit websites. I also have used QB in the past, so I'm going to stick with that for now. There is so much I have to learn business-wise, that I am choosing my learning curves!

It seems like the Intuit QB/Microsoft issue is similar to the PC/Mac debate. Folks on both sides that swear by their preferences.
