Going by the specs I would say the Sony is the better one.

It really depends on what you are going to use the PC for. If you only use it for casual browsing on the Internet and sending email, then the Sony is probably a lot more expensive than what you need.
The video card is pretty good, but again, may be more than you need. If you don't plan on using your PC to output Blu-Ray movies to your TV or for gaming, you would get a better value out of a machine with a lower end card that doesn't have a Blu-Ray player.

The replacement for the HP is paid for and I cannot get a
lower end and get cash out so I want to get as much computer as
I can as a replacement.
It may end up being a college computer next year.
We are learning to play around with some video editing
and my kids may do some gaming on it.

Kelly,
Actually, it really looks like a super deal to me.
One caveat:
The Sony shows Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition.
You might list your applications and hardware and be sure that they will be compatible with the 64 bit Operating System.
If there is an issue, 32 bit might be a better bet, or an upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit Professional which offers Compatibility Mode. Compatibility Mode can make devices work when the device manufacturer does not offer drivers for the new Windows 7 Operating System.
But, all in all, I think it is a great hardware swap for you.
And there are guys around this forum who know one heck of a lot more about this than I do.

Oh, I guess I didn't understand the part about it being a replacement. In that case, I would say it is a pretty good deal. Especially if you are going to start doing video editing.
BB will always try to sell you more than you need and a lot of people jsut take their advice. Just wanted to see that you weren't getting hosed.

Thanks everyone!!!
I got the Sony today .
I think it will be nice and I love the looks too.
It is a tad smaller and lighter than the HP I had, which
will make it easier to carry around.
I know the Windows 7 will take some adjustment,
and I may need some advice next week from all the
smart computer people here!!
Thanks again

Just FYI, it looks like it will play BluRay out to a TV, in case you might use that ability.
