Default How do I get data off a hard drive??

The MB in my desktop computer fried the other day, so I'm now using my wife's notebook computer.

If I had another desktop computer, I could easily plug the HD into the spare bay, but cannot do that with a notebook.

Question is: How do I get the data off the HD onto the notebook? Do they make some type of interface that goes from the HD ribbon cable to a USB so I could plug it into the notebook?

Thank you

One of these will do the job:
USB 2.0 to SATA + IDE (2.5 / 3.5 / 5.25") Cable Adapter 2020
Handy tool to have around.
You can also pop the drive into an external drive case.

Every good geek needs one of these. Is that why I've got 3 of them?

Got me beat. I only have one. But when the local CompUSA closed down I did pick up several hard drive enclosures cheap
