Can staring at a computer monitor for long lengths of time, eventually be bad on your eyes?

I guess staring at anything for too long wouldn't be a good idea. That is to say, unless that something is Megan Fox. . .

But seriously, I know personally I've gotten eye fatigue, where one eye twitches uncontrollably in my MMORPG days. That was like 15+ hours on the computer. Yeah, I know.

Maybe an occasional headache, etc. But I've been at this for so long I don't notice anything really.

Oh and I have bad eyes anyway (worn glasses since age 10), so yeah.

I have stared at 15, 17,21, and now 24" monitors. I have no eye sight problems. I have other problems, but its gene related.

The old CRT's emitted radiation that was suspected to help cause eyesight problems in people with long term exposure. But mostly eye problems come from not exercising them enough, and staring at one focal point for many hours a day can cause that.

Just make sure for a at least a few minutes an hour you get up and look out a window at something far away. Stretch those focusing muscles.
