I'm wondering if any of you guys have noticed this issue with your Ipod Touch. About a couple months ago, I caved in and paid the $4.95 for the OS 3.0 update for my 2nd Gen Ipod Touch. Shortly after, I noticed that the wifi signal in the top left corner of the screen was fluctuating from full to half to one bar and sometimes to no signal at all (total loss of Internet connectivity).

I fooled around with all kinds of settings. Reset Linksys router a number of times, updated the firmware on the router, reset network settings on Ipod, established a static IP on the Ipod, fresh install of Ipod OS, etc. Nothing seemed to work. I switched out my router with my roommate's router. Same deal. Finally, I concluded that the routers were crapping out on me. Though the routers were not performing that well, this didn't seem to be the complete answer. I downgraded to the latest 2.0 OS and the connection seemed to be stable again (as long as my wireless router was stable; we tested this by using the wifi on my roommate's laptop. thus, I knew when the router wasn't only affecting the Ipod).

Last week, I purchased a new Linksys router (old school blue router with two antennas in the back). I also re-upgraded my Ipod to OS 3.1.3. Everything seemed to be peachy for the first 20 mins or so. Then, out of the blue, my Ipod's wifi signal started fluctuating again. D'oh! As far as I can tell, the DL/UL speeds seem alright. They're averaging about 3.5 and 3.8 Mbps respectively, according to the Speedtest.net app I have on it (I'm guessing that's pretty good, no?). The Wifi signal just seems to be fluctuating constantly, regardless of how close I am to the router/hotspot.

By Googling this issue, there seem to be a lot of folks who are experiencing this same issue after upgrading their OS to 3.0 and later. Have you guys experienced this? If so, have you found any surefire solutions? Please share.

I have an IPod Touch w/3.1.3 OS. I have a hard time connecting to my wireless network (took several tries tonight). From what I heard, it has to do with WIFI security (I use WPA2). I hope Apple can fix this.
