I have Outpost firewall, but I removed it from startup because I want to use the Win XP firewall for awhile (Outpost is slow to load). I set the XP firewall to "On", and started the service (Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing), setting it to Automatic. But when I boot up, the firewall goes back to "Off". What's up? Does Windows think I still have Outpost running?
Thanks for the links. The firewall service would remain started/automatic, but the firewall's "radio button" would revert to "off" upon startup. Anyhow, it's now working properly (for some dang reason)!
