Hi. We are looking to make a move from lower westchester county to new fairfield. Can you tell me does New Fairfield have a town pool? or a rec center? Are there restaurants or diners or do you have to go to Danbury for that. Also how many and what supermarkets are there. And lastly what about any convience stores that I always say (but never do) need to run to for that gallon of milk for the kids.

There is a Stop & Shop in the center of New Fairfield. There are few Italian restaurants & delis in town but a majority of places are in Danbury. No town pool or rec center, but there is beach along Candlewood Lake & on tranquil Ball Pond. To the best of my knowledge, there is no convenience store in Danbury but there are 2 in Danbury near the New Fairfield town line (a 7-11 at the corner of Clapboard Ridge (Rt 39) & Padanaram Rd and another store that just opened up on Route 37 just before or past the prison).
The high school does have a pool and when I lived there, there was a free swim schedule for the town through park and rec. There is also a great diner on Rte 22 in NY just over the town line and some great restaurants in town. I highly recommend Villa Pasta!
There's a convenience store/quick mart at the Mobil station in the center of town (milk, soda, ice, ice cream, snacks, etc.)
