Hello CT posters, and thank you in advance for your help!

My husband and I are tentatively planning a move to the Ridgefield area. We would be moving for his job, but I'd need to find a position before or soon after arriving. I currently work in higher-education fundraising at a very large university, planning events.

I am trying to find out more about the non-profit organizations in the area. Can anyone speak to the non-profit "lay of the land" so to speak?

I am also curious to hear people's thoughts about commuting to New Haven from the area.

Thanks so much!

Hi BetsySG,
For researching local non profits, I would recommend going to GuideStar nonprofit reports and Forms 990 for donors, grantmakers and businesses. There you can search non-profits by state, region, city etc. It might not have up to date info on every non-profit but it should get you going in the right direction.

As far as commuting to the New Haven area, depending on where in the Ridgefield area you move to, the commute will be a long one. Looking to areas east and southeast of Ridgefield may reduce the commuting time.

Jamie

I can't really comment on the non-profits in the Ridgefield area, but there are many including those in Danbury, Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport. ridgefield is about 40 miles from New Haven, so the trip would be about an hour, more during rush hour. Jay
