I am accepted into Hartford Seminary for the fall. I recently took a trip there from Western NY for the first time to check it out, and I was a little disappointed at how ghetto the neighborhood was. I would expect a more vibrant area around a campus; this place needed a facelift.

I didn't have much time there to poke around.....are there any streets near the Seminary that are decent? Links to decent apartment communities are also appreciated. I'm applying for a job in Newington but I wasn't too impressed there either.

Is there anything I should know before moving to Hartford? Im a college-educated 26 year old Muslim female.

Look in West Hartford, via Craigslist. Much safer, yet still close by. If you don't have a car, or don't want to drive, there is bus transportation from WH to Hartford. Newington is fine to live in, but I think WH would be closer to the seminary, and it has a vibrant town center with lots of shops and restaurants.
