My boyfriend is 20something and will be starting work in Stamford, CT. He's looking for a 2 bedroom apartment in a reasonable price range but is having trouble finding one in Stamford to fit his budget. Any good cities/towns around that area that he should look into? Short commute and an interesting nightlife would be best.

You don't say what a reasonable price range is to him, but I would say he should look in safer sections of Bridgeport as the rents will be cheaper..

If your boyfriend doesn't mind taking the train to Stamford, he will get the most bang for his buck in Milford or Stratford. (I grew up in Bridgeport and would highly recommend against living there unless your boyfriend could find an apartment in Black Rock or the North End; unfortunately, rent in those areas isn't very affordable.) Milford and Stratford are suburban (outside of main retail districts) and don't have much of a nightlife scene but your boyfriend could always take the train to Stamford or into New York City if he likes to frequent bars/clubs.

I disagree with Bridgeport (no nightlife) but agree with Milford. Look into rentals near downtown Milford and the harbor area. Much more affordable than points southwest.
