Stratford is a possibility, but I really couldn't say it's seamlessly integrated. It has a separate black section in the south end, while the north end is mostly white, and the school system is OK. Then there's Hamden, which I don't know really well, but I understand it has a measurable black population and a school system that is at least decent. But all in all, as to the OP's question, the pickings are pretty slim here, I'm afraid.

If I could add my two cents, I would remind u that a good school system is subjunctive. The school districts in Connecticut with high immigrant rates/low number of parents who didn't go to college tend to be the lower scoring ones. But any of us who grew up in cities know that that doesn't mean that other children don't/can't succeed. Many of the children who come from households don't know how to get to college or the importance of getting good grades on tests. I know I didn't..

I would say there's a lot more common sense out there.

In many ways, they are. In many of the rural areas, these folks are less tolerant to societal changes, imagine being faced with immigrants with different cultures? Seriously, imagine a bunch of immigrants getting off the boat and flocking to Terryville..LOL they'd go nuts. Do you ever go up there and read what some of the t-shirts say? Not to say that waterbury has a better intellect level but its definately more tolerant to other cultures..

Yea I heard they denied housing and food and finally shot or hung all the Somalis that landed in Lewiston Maine.

Not "liking" another culture is not racist. I'm not fond of certain world cultures just because of...well, their culture and way of life. They probably don't like my lifestyle either. That's not racist.

No one is being denied services, housing, jobs etc...well, some white folks are being told to stand aside but that's another conversation.

Putting the inanity of this thread aside. New Haven has some nice sections, Hamden also has a smallish but visable Black population good schools and is convient to Black cultural activities and other cultural activities due to Yale. Blue Hills in Hartford is spotty but can be nice and is convient and affordable. Bloomfield is cheap, also economically and racially diverse. Windsor is affordable, school system is reasonable. West Hartford seems to have more Blacks than the statistic indicate for some reason. Stay away from Eastern CT, Manchester, Bristol and other "blue collerish" towns, they generally are more racist and are just unattractive in general.

Damn, did they forget to take down the "be out by dark" and "no colored served here" signs again?

Yes these things should be discussed using misapplied sarcasm based upon extremes.

If I have to move back to CT for a job opportunity, I refuse to put my daughter in the same situation I was in as a child. That's why I posted on city-data. I'm hoping to get some insight into the other parts of CT.

We will be renting at first. Currently paying a whopping $1,350.00 per month so anything cheaper than that would be a blessing. My main concern is diversity and a decent school system. Not worried about a long commute to work.
I would say go to either Farmington or West Hartford...and make sure the kids go to Connard......I think I"ve heard avoid Hall High..of course that's if you want to leave around the Hartord County area...great people, I've yet to encounter racism around me, but you know, it's industrialized these days so you have to pay attention
