The issue appears to be more a profound lack of judgement. Regardless of whether or not the "counseled" employee was deserving of termination or not, it is insensitive for the Super to publicly broadcast personell issues. Legal counsel for these local districts need to ensure that there is an out in every contract for misconduct that does not leave taxpayers holding the bag. I'm not sure this case fits the bill but certainly the case in Milford does.
I'm not quite sure what a comment on Facebook would have to do with one's IQ. It has nothing to do with intelligence. For all you know, this super may have fantastic ideas when it comes to educational programs.
I agree that he shouldn't have announced it to the public; that's called a mistake. But to refer to him as unintelligent is silly - he got to that position somehow, and it certainly wasn't by being "dumb".
I agree, and frankly he didn't mention anyone's name either. That's like me saying on my FB - which only "friends" can see, that I had to confront an unruly customer today or had to "counsel" an employee. Big deal.
I'm still not seeing anyting worthy of ending someones career. That's heavily punitive. Yet everyone is freaking out about Shirley Sherrod losing her job after admitting to denying someone service based on skin color.

The world is upside down...
Without getting off topic too much, I believe Shirley Sherrod lost her job after admitting it was WRONG to deny someone service based on skin color, but oh, FOX news left that part out.
To quote the REST of her speech, "that's when I spent time in my office calling everybody I could think of..." "God helped me to see that it's not just about black people, it's about poor people."

I watched the complete video and she said she passed him off to "one of his kind".
She may be a reformed racist, but she was a racist and did indeed discriminate.
And Fox didn't leave anything out and in fact Glenn Beck defended her and said it was wrong to fire her. In the words of KidYankee "Surprise surpise"
I was just commenting on FOX's reporting practices. Their stories are always incredibly biased. CNN and MSNBC too, but FOX takes it to another level IMO.
Freedom of speech is a myth. If you work any sort of municipal job, the politically correct thought police can put a stinkeye on you at any given moment. Even corporate jobs but there are less rats watching you at a corporation then when every single taxpayer thinks they pay your salary. Doesn't have to make sense. Harrison, NY had cops get in trouble for commenting on the mayor. I'm sure there are a hundred cases nationwide.
